It has a maximum total length of 23 cm; and a carapace length of 2 and 8 cm (Ref. 4). Occurs on soft substrates of sand or sand and mud. The larvae of this species are obtained from the plankton (Ref. 4).
Members of the order Decapoda are mostly gonochoric. Mating behavior: Precopulatory courtship ritual is common (through olfactory and tactile cues); usually indirect sperm transfer.
