Juveniles are found in prop roots of mangroves and gradually inhabit sandy shores, seagrass areas and shoals as they age, where they are buried slightly in the sand. Feeds on some detritus, decaying plant materials and tiny invertebrates (Ref. 800).

Members of the class Asteroidea exhibit both asexual (regeneration and clonal) and sexual (gonochoric) means of reproduction. Life cycle: Embryos hatch into planktonic larvae and later metamorphose into pentamorous juveniles which develop into young sea stars with stubby arms (Ref. 833). Mating behavior: Males mount onto females (Ref. 91292).
