Small and delicate, sparingly branched colonies; complementary nematocysts; macrobasic euryteles; male blastostyles not reduced, bearing a few two-chambered sporosacs (Ref. 3086).
Occurs at depths of 10 to 20 m on algae, hydroids and bryozoans (Ref. 3093).

Members of the order Anthoathecata are mostly colonial A-form hydroids. Life cycle: The zygote develops into planula inside the gonophore and is later released as an actinula which metamorphoses into polyp stage.
