Locally collected for food (Ref. 348). On sandy bottoms with shell debris or coral rubble. Intertidal and shallow subtidal zones (Ref. 348). Also found attached to rocks (Ref. 75840).

Members of the class Bivalvia are mostly gonochoric, some are protandric hermaphrodites. Life cycle: Embryos develop into free-swimming trocophore larvae, succeeded by the bivalve veliger, resembling a miniature clam.
