Colony: small irregular clumps of branches, often less than 0.3 m across. Corallites: angular, with thick rounded walls. Ragged branch ends, composed primarily of exsert costae. Septa alternating in two orders, with large dentations. Small and compact columellae. Paliform lobes form a distinct crown. Color: uniform cream or brown (Ref. 848).
Occurs on reef flats sheltered from strong wave action (Ref. 848).

Members of the class Anthozoa are either gonochoric or hermaphroditic. Mature gametes are shed into the coelenteron and spawned through the mouth. Life cycle: The zygote develops into a planktonic planula larva. Metamorphosis begins with early morphogenesis of tentacles, septa and pharynx before larval settlement on the aboral end.
