Solitary. Free-living when mature, up to 45 mm across. Indistinct walls under the 3 orders of septo-costae. Teeth: large and lobed. Columella: broad and compact. A paliform crown may be distinguished. skeleton may be observed under the fleshy and transparent tentacles. Color: brown (Ref. 848).
Occurs in deep sandy substrates with other free-living corals (Ref. 848).

Members of the class Anthozoa are either gonochoric or hermaphroditic. Mature gametes are shed into the coelenteron and spawned through the mouth. Life cycle: The zygote develops into a planktonic planula larva. Metamorphosis begins with early morphogenesis of tentacles, septa and pharynx before larval settlement on the aboral end.
