Short description Morfologi

Length: 0.23 - 0.78 cm. A minuscule to small; elongate fluke with the ventral sucker attached on a projection from the body. Oral sucker and ventral sucker: close together and of similar size. No tail is present (Ref. 359).

Biologi     Ordlista (t.ex. epibenthic)

Length: 0.23 to 0.78 cm (Ref. 359). It occurs in both offshore pelagic and inshore fishes, and thus must have a broad range of tolerances and intermediate hosts. Associations: variety of other worms occurred in the stomach and intestine of dolphin with this host. Host Specificity: occurs in dolphin and filefishes; a peculiar pattern considering that these 2 families of fishes are not closely related. It is a primary, but not a characteristic parasite of dolphin. The single records in wahoo from Puerto Rico and a porcupinefish, Diodon hystrix Linnaeus, from Jamaica probably represent false or accidental hosts (Ref. 359).

Life cycle and mating behavior Könsmognad | Reproduktion | Lek | Eggs | Fecundity | Larvae

Members of the class Trematoda are parasitic, thus requires a host to survive. Life cycle: Eggs are passed on to the feces of the hosts. Embryos hatch into miracidia and penetrate the tissues of snails where they further undergo three stages: sporocysts
