Short description Morphology

Shell typically cream white and light bluish green, with longitudinal or concentrically arranged brown or reddish streaks, splotches, or zigzag markings. Jugum often with white and greenish brown longitudinal streaks. Girdle tan to brown, often with patches extending from tufts of spicules to valves. Valves relatively flat, slightly rounded. Anterior valve with slightly convex slope, and is covered with closely packed pustules radiating from the apex.

Found on rock pools (Ref. 124789). On exposed rocks covered by Sargassum. Also found among coralline algae at the low water mark (Ref. 128661).

Members of the class Polyplacophora are mostly gonochoric. Life cycle: Eggs hatch into lecitotrophic planktonic trocophore larvae (no veliger stage) which later metamorphose and settle on the bottom as young adults.
