Found on soft substrates like soft mud, sandy mud, shells and are also seen in coral reefs at depths of 5 to 59 m (Ref. 89665). Also found subtidally on hard bottom (Ref. 106854).

Members of the order Decapoda are mostly gonochoric. Mating behavior: Precopulatory courtship ritual is common (through olfactory and tactile cues); usually indirect sperm transfer.
