Formation: hemispherical and often exceeds 2 m across, if well developed. Corallites: large, averaging 50 mm diameter; becomes flabello-meandroid with 1 to 3 centers. Tall, sharp teeth in septa. Polyps: thick, fleshy, rough surface; margins extended in a distinct serrated rim. Color: blue-gray to mustard, white polyp margins (Ref. 848).

Members of the class Anthozoa are either gonochoric or hermaphroditic. Mature gametes are shed into the coelenteron and spawned through the mouth. Life cycle: The zygote develops into a planktonic planula larva. Metamorphosis begins with early morphogenesis of tentacles, septa and pharynx before larval settlement on the aboral end.
