Shell slender, slightly curved, white to yellowish, polished, shining. 6 thin primary ribs on posterior half of the shell, dorsal one larger than the others. Anterior half smooth. Secondary ribs present, number variable. Intercostal spaces straight to convex. Apical section hexagonal, oral section circular (Ref. 3441).
Empty shells collected at depths of 5 to 269 m (Ref. 3441).

Members of the class Scaphopoda are gonochoric. Fertilization occurs in the mantle cavity. Life cycle: Eggs hatch into free-swimming lecithotrophic trochophore larvae, succeeded by shelled veligers.
