Epibenthic, sessile. Usually found at depths below the level of macrophytic algae. Dwells in rocky substrates. Favors horizontal surfaces along with its associated species, Stelligera stuposa (Ref. 128754).

Members of the class Demospongiae are hermaphroditic. Life cycle: The zygote develops into parenchymella larva (free-swimming) before settling down on a substrate where it grows into a young sponge.
