10 to 20 cm wide, plump, massive, hard and cartilagenous, smooth; in each octant 16 small, sharp-pointed, smooth velar lappets, separated by furrows extending upwards on exumbrella, furrows without pigment; mouth arms about as long as bell radius, proximal portion short, one-third as long as distal 3 winged portion, which is large, prismatic, with a short gelatinous, pyramidal, bluntly pointed, three cornered terminal knob; extra circular canal system with several radial vessels.
Found in coastal waters of Oman. Obtains nutrition from symbiotic algae (Ref. 129713).

Members of the class Scyphozoa are gonochoric. Life cycle: Egg is laid by the adult medusa which later develops into a free-living planula, then to a scyphistoma to a strobila, and lastly to a free-living young medusa.
