Comments Joint Nature Conservation Committee; Elminius modestus was first found in Chichester Harbour, Hampshire, in 1945 where it is believed to have arrived sometime between 1940 and 1943 (Bishop 1947; Crisp 1958). This species naturally occurs in Australasia.
