Definition of Term

pinnacle
(English) Reef rising from the lagoon floor to near the water surface; patch reefs are larger than pinnacles, reach close to the sea surface, and are flat topped with a substantial reef top; the upper surface of pinnacles are usually not flat topped and are limited in area, usually being pointed, irregular, or conical; pinnacles often do not reach the lagoon surface and lack a substantial reef top. pinacle
