Definition of Term

(English) Waters that are relatively low in nutrients and cannot support much plant life, such as the open oceans and some lakes. (See also: eutrophic)
(French) Eaux relativement pauvres en sels nutritifs et qui ne peuvent pas soutenir une importante vie végétale, telles que les eaux des océans ouverts et celles de certains lacs. (See also: eutrophic)
