Definition of Term

natural selection
(English) Natural selection is the differential contribution of offspring to the next generation by various genetic types belonging to the same populations. Natural selection favors those genotypes that manage to produce and rear successfully the most offspring. (See also: selection, artificial selection)
sélection naturelle
(French) Apport génétique à la génération suivante par plusieurs géniteurs qui appartiennent aux mêmes populations. La sélection naturelle favorise les génotypes qui produisent les descendants les plus résistants. (See also: selection, artificial selection)
