Eastern Atlantic: off SW Ireland, Bay of Biscay, throughout Mediterranean, Gulf of Guinea, and Cape of Good Hope. Indo-West Pacific: from Gulf of Aden and east African coast to Japan and Hawaii; Plesionika martia orientalis: Indo-Pacific.
