Thick to thin encrusting: 0.1 - 0.5 cm thick. Oscules: 0.2 - 0.4 cm wide; volcano shaped, with transparent membranes. Whitish to yellowish or light purple in color. Soft and fragile, almost crunchy to the touch. C-shaped sigmas abundant (Ref. 415).
Maximum body thickness: 0.5 cm. In Bocas, common on mangroves roots, while in other localities it is a reported from cryptic reef habitats and seagrass beds as well (Ref. 415).

Members of the class Demospongiae are hermaphroditic. Life cycle: The zygote develops into parenchymella larva (free-swimming) before settling down on a substrate where it grows into a young sponge.
