Short description Morphology

Colonies are branched with branches monocentric and having uniform lengths and uniformly spaced. Colonies are phaceliod and during the day and vesicles sometimes form a continuous mass. Cream, gray or pale brown in color.

Found in shallow protected reef environments especially in turbid waters (Ref. 847). On reef slopes from mid to deeper regions (Ref. 98471).

Members of the class Anthozoa are either gonochoric or hermaphroditic. Mature gametes are shed into the coelenteron and spawned through the mouth. Life cycle: The zygote develops into a planktonic planula larva. Metamorphosis begins with early morphogenesis of tentacles, septa and pharynx before larval settlement on the aboral end.
