This species is found on steep rocky substrates, inside crevices or underneath overhangs at depths of 15 to 31 m. It is associated with or found growing on Desmophyllum dianthus (Ref. 87801).

Members of the class Demospongiae are hermaphroditic. Life cycle: The zygote develops into parenchymella larva (free-swimming) before settling down on a substrate where it grows into a young sponge.
