Pérez Farfante (Ref. 75620) recognizes 3 subspecies: Parapenaeus fissuroides fissuroides from Indonesia to Japan and the Philippines, Parapenaeus fissuroides erythraeus from the Red Sea and Parapenaeus fissuroides indicus from east Africa and Madagascar.
