Definition of Term

seine
(English) A fishing net shaped like a curtain to hang vertically in the water, the ends being drawn together to encircle fish. It is usually weighted at the bottom and has floats at the top, and often with a bag in the centre. May be operated from shore, or from a boat (Danish or Scottish seines).
