bar
(English) An elongate color marking of vertical orientation, with straight sides, also 1)a vertical or diagonal patch of pigment usually with well-defined margins (straight sides), often on the flank of a fish and shorter than a band (cf. stripe, an elongate horizontal patch of pigment), 2)a submerged or exposed ridge in rivers, lakes or the ocean deposited where there is a decrease in flow, 3)one of the four sides of the mesh of netting (See also: saddle, stripe)
