Family:  Melongenidae (Melongenas)
Max. size:  15 cm ShH (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthic; brackish; marine
Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific: from Sri Lanka to Papua New Guinea; north to the Philippines and south to northern Queensland.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  In muddy waters near the shore (Ref. 799). Sometimes very near bivalve beds on which they prey. Shallow subtidal zones (Ref. 349).
