Family:  Veneridae (venus clams)
Max. size:  6 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthic; marine; depth range 0 - 25 m
Distribution:  Indo-Pacific: from northwest Indian Ocean, to Polynesia; north to Japan and south to Queensland.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Found in intertidal areas in sand (Ref. 75831). Common in coral reef areas. Intertidal and sublittoral (Ref. 345).

Threat to humans:  harmless
Country info:  Sporadically found throughout the Philippines (Ref. 821). Artisanal exploitation. Commonly sold for food in the markets of the central Philippines; the shell is used in local shell craft (Ref. 348). C: Refs. 348, 821, 121724, 128987; O: Ref. 821.
