Family:  Kogiidae (pygmy and dwarf sperm whales)
Max. size:  340 cm TL (male/unsexed); max.weight: 400 kg
Environment:  pelagic; marine; depth range 0 - 1989 m, non-migratory
Distribution:  Atlantic Ocean and Indo-Pacific. Tropical to warm temperate zones.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Commonly seen over and near the continental slope. Feeds on deep-water cephalopods, fish and shrimps (Ref. 936).

Country info:  Sighted in Pamilacan Island. Stranding at Calatagan, Batangas (Ref. 936), and Davao (Ref. 94963). Length is up to 335.28 cm (Ref. 936). Threats include solid waste pollution and direct take by harpoon recorded from Pamilacan Island, Bohol (Ref. 94963). C: Refs. 936, 84562, 94963. Philippine Red List: Data Deficient (Ref. 94963).
