Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific.
Diagnosis:  Colonies: encrusting or laminar base, with closely compacted short upright branches. Coenosteum ridges: vertical; but may be irregular. Corallites: large and prominent. Dark brown; usually with white coenosteum ridges and branch tips (Ref. 846).
Biology:  Shallow reef environments and rocky foreshores (Ref. 846).
