Environment:  sessile; marine; depth range 0 - 20 m
Distribution:  Pacific Ocean and Northeast Atlantic.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Size refers to column diameter (Ref. 865). This is an attached species (Ref. 3123), found on mussels, rocks and other biogenic substrates. It expels acontia when disturbed (Ref. 87801). Solitary (Ref. 2377).

Country info:  Known from the central Patagonian Zone from Golfo de Penas to Strait of Magellan. It is the most abundant in the south of this area and is observed to form dense meadows (Ref. 87801). C: Ref. 87801.
