Family:  Ocypodidae (fiddler and ghost crabs)
Max. size:  3.3 cm CL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthic; freshwater; brackish; marine
Distribution:  Eastern Atlantic and the Mediterranean: from Morocco to southern Angola, northwards to Portugal, Mediterranean (Ref. 435). Also found in Guinea Current (Ref. 417).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Maximum carapace width: 4.7 cm. Inhabits marsh land, mud flats, often near river mouths, making burrows on muddy ground (Ref. 435).
