Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occurs in tropical, inter-reef habitats. On soft substrates, prefers soft sandy or muddy substrates on sheltered reef slopes or in lagoons. Often solitary, found along with other free-living corals such as Heteropsammia sp., Heterocyathus sp., and some fungiids. Occasionally forms vast colonies wherein these large colonies are found only in particular protected, shallow island embayments (Ref. 98471).
