Family:  Tonnidae (tun shells)
Max. size:  15 cm ShH (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthic; marine; depth range 10 - 30 m
Distribution:  Indo-Pacific: from East Africa, to the islands of the Central Pacific, north to Japan and Hawaii, and south to southern Melanesia and New Zealand; might also occur in northern Australia. Tropical to subtropical.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Incidental bycatch in fishing nets (Ref. 349). On fine sand and mud bottoms (Refs. 821, 126564). Common at depths of about 10 m or more. In Hawaii, it is found on the outer edge of fringing reefs, at depths of more than 30 m (Ref. 349).
