Family:  Vermetidae (worm shells)
Max. size:  12.5 cm SHD (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthic; marine; depth range 0 - 150 m
Distribution:  Eastern Pacific: USA to Mexico.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  It is found on rocks in intertidal areas to a depth of 30 meters. It lives in aggregations of 600 or more individuals. It is a filter feeder and uses mucous to collect drifting plankton (Ref. 865).
