Family:  Muricidae (purpuras, murex and rock shells)
Max. size:  15 cm ShH (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthic; marine; depth range 0 - 30 m
Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific: from Madagascar and Sri Lanka to Melanesia; north to Japan and south to New Caledonia.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Reasonably common in shrimp trawls (Ref. 349). Found offshore (Ref. 799). Voracious carnivore (Ref. 108591).
