Family:  Placospongiidae ()
Max. size: 
Environment:  sessile; brackish; marine
Distribution:  Western Central Atlantic: Jamaica, Belize, Colombia and Panama.
Diagnosis:  Thick crusts to branching. Brown to tan externally, lighter internally. Surface armored with cortical plates and a pattern of grooves with the inhalant surface. Hard and tough (Ref. 415).
Biology:  Rare; shallow reef and seagrass beds habitats (Ref. 415) and mangrove ponds (Ref. 86789). Found on rocky and rubble substrates (Ref. 83912).
