Environment:  benthic; marine; depth range 40 - 1303 m
Distribution:  Western Atlantic: Southwest of Marthas Vineyard and Nantucket, Massachusetts, to near Cozumel Island, Mexico, to Uruguay.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Deep sea, slope (Ref. 97531). Found on the continental slope. Buries itself (Ref. 106859). Host to barnacles, isopods and worms (Ref. 104958). In general, galatheid crabs show a wide spectrum of feeding habits, from being detritivorous, vegetarian, omnivorous, to cannibalistic (Ref. 90632).
