Family:  Mitridae (miter shells), subfamily: Mitrinae
Max. size:  8 cm SHL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthic; marine
Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific: form the Andaman Sea and Cocos (Keeling) Islands to eastern Micronesia and Melanesia; north to southern Japan and south to Queensland and New Caledonia.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Mainly collected for its shell in the area (Ref. 349). Usually under stones and corals on a sand substrate. Abundant in the intertidal zone (Ref. 349).
