Max. size: 
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 0 - 40 m
Distribution:  Indo-Pacific: Red Sea to Melanesia, north to Japan and south to Australia.
Diagnosis:  Formation: hemispherical to flat. Valley: 20 to 25 mm wide, in average; irregularly meandroid, straight in flat colonies. Walls: moderately thick, fleshy, with a grove along the top. Color: widely ranging from red to gray and green, with valleys and walls often of contrasting color. Colonies in Red Sea are commonly cream colored (Ref. 848).
Biology:  Occurs in upper reef slopes and fringing reefs (Ref. 848).
