Distribution:  Eastern Central Pacific: Endemic to Hawaii.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  lnhabits rocky substrates from around 6 to over 46 m. Young urchins are most often found under stones while larger ones in caves and crevices. Grazes on algae. Hosts a commensal shrimp. (Ref. 122680).
