Distribution:  Sub-Antarctica and Antarctica.
Diagnosis:  Vivid red. Thickly branching, up to 30 cm in height (Ref. 89939).
Biology:  Found in patchy assemblages. Suspension feeder; preyed on by starfishes. Derivatives have antitumor and antiviral properties, thus are being tested as potential anti-cancer drugs (Ref. 89939).
