Distribution:  Eastern Pacific: from Easter Island to Gulf of Tehuantepec, Mexico, south to Chiloe Island, Chile.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Maximum depth from Ref. 113941. Bentho-demersal. Preyed upon by hake, sharks, mackerel, jack mackerel, cachema, catfish, anchoveta, deep-sea lions, and seabirds (Ref. 106929). Mean trophic level: 3.20 (Ref. 114779). Reported to feed on plankton (Ref. 106929), detritus, polychaetes and amphipods (Ref. 113935).
