Environment:  sessile; marine; depth range 0 - 1249 m
Distribution:  Temperate Pacific and Atlantic Ocean, and the Arctic. Mostly polar, but also in subtropical and boreal.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Size refers to colony height (Ref. 865). Maximum depth range from Ref. 119577. Known from intertidal to a depth of 15 meters, on offshore pinnacles or areas of strong currents (Ref. 865).
