Environment:  benthic; marine
Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific: From India to Thailand and Celebes, and possibly also from the Philippines to northern Australia. Reported as widely occurring in the Indo-West Pacific, but the exact distribution is imperfectly known because of frequent confusion with other species of the genus.
