Distribution:  Antarctic Atlantic and Southeast Pacific: Antarctica and Chile.
Diagnosis:  Colony stolonal, composed of creeping stolons giving rise to partially sessile hydrothecae. Hydrotheca tubular, sock-shaped and adnate to substratum for just a tiny portion. Hydrothecal aperture circular; rim even and smooth, though indistinctly everted. Free part of hydrotheca directed upwards at a varied degree. Frequently with few, long renovations. Adnate part of hydrothecae provided with a few striae on dorsal side. Cnidome consisting of two size-classes of nematocysts. Coppinia consisting of firmly adpressed gonothecae with defensive tubes. Defensive tubes situated on periphery of the group of gonothecae, but also arising amongst those gonothecae, and provided with large distal circular aperture. Gonothecal aperture circular, situated on a short and distinctly everted, distal neck.
Biology:  Minimum depth from Ref. 87801. This species is observed to be epibiothic with hydroids (Billardia subrufa and Halecium sp.) and sponges (Ref. 7424) and found on polychaete tubes (Ref. 87801), at depths of 13 to 640 m (Refs. 7424, 87801).
