Distribution:  Western Atlantic: Eastern North America., from Tamaulipas Mexico to St. Pierre Miquelon. Introduced in the Eastern Pacific, Eastern Atlantic, and the Mediterranean.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  From sublittoral sediments (Ref. 1314). It is a sessile-burrower, suspension feeder (Ref. 96498).
