Environment:  sessile; marine; depth range 1 - 4 m
Distribution:  Western Central Pacific, Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Maximum depth from Ref. 116464. In Spain, it was observed that the grazing sea urchin on seaweeds increases light availability at the basal stratum, which favours the primary production of the symbiotic zooxanthellae and thus C. virids growth through nutrient transfer (Ref. 124616).
