Environment:  sessile; brackish; marine; depth range 3 - 110 m
Distribution:  Indo-Pacific and Atlantic Ocean.
Diagnosis:  Characterized by the feather-like erect branches. The pinnately arranged pinnules (ramuli) are cylindrical with a mucronate tip. Erect branches up to 12 cm in height (Ref. 80758).
Biology:  Used for human consumption as food and medicine: antifungal, lowers blood pressure; source of sitosterol, caulerpin, and caulerpicin, palmitic acid (Ref. 80758). Grows on sandy to sandy-rocky substrate in calm, shallow and protected areas on reef flats; commonly associated with seagrasses (Ref. 80758).
