Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 0 - 40 m
Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific: from the Andaman Sea to Micronesia and Melanesia; north to southern Japan and south to northern coasts of Australia.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Shell frequently used to make decorative items (Ref. 349). Inhabits sand or sandy muddy substrates (Ref. 128042), sometimes associated with sparse algae (Ref. 349, 128042). Often occurring in colonies (Ref. 349). Dead shells found on the beaches (Ref. 88739).
