Max. size:  6 cm CL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthic; marine; depth range 1 - 218 m
Distribution:  Atlantic and Indo-Pacific: from Senegal to Angola and Florida Keys to Brazil, Red Sea to Japan and Polynesia.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Carapace width: 8 cm. Minimum depth from Ref. 96667. Occurs in coastal waters up to depths of 218 m (Ref. 95880). Burrows in sand and muddy sand substrates (Ref. 417). Also on hard substrates, reef flats, coral, sand, shell and rock bottoms (Ref. 95880). Observed to open and feed on conchs based on laboratory experiments (Ref. 111684).
