Environment:  pelagic; marine; depth range 0 - 30 m
Distribution:  Black Sea: Sea of Azov. Introduced worldwide. Mostly boreal, but also in subtropical and tropical.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Estuarine, neritic (Ref. 116114). Found mostly in bays and harbors (introduced by shipping). Tolerates salinities of 3 to 35 ppm, i.e., eurythermal; feeds on copepods, copepod nauplii and barnacle nauplii (Ref. 2376).
